[Researches on surface modification for prevention of bacterial adhesion to implanting biomaterials]

The failure of operation caused by biomaterials centered infections (BCI) has seriously restricted the clinical application of biomaterials. Two mechanisms of bacterial adhesion and the relationship between surface free energy of bimaterials and bacterial adhesion are introduced and discussed in this paper. Increasing the surface free energy can improve (decrease) the adhesion of some kinds of bacteria. At last, some methods of the surface modification are reviewed.
