Orbital lipogranuloma after sinus surgery.

Summary

Two patients experienced eyelid swelling and double vision after endoscopic sinus surgery. Surgical debulking relieved these symptoms, with histopathology revealing orbital lipogranuloma, a rare complication.

Background:

Endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) is a common procedure for sinonasal diseases.
Complications, though rare, can significantly impact patient quality of life.

Observation:

Two patients presented with eyelid swelling, proptosis, and diplopia following ESS.
These symptoms were attributed to the development of orbital and eyelid lipogranuloma.

Findings:

Surgical debulking of the affected eyelid and orbital tissues was performed.
Histopathological examination confirmed extensive lipogranuloma in both cases.
Patients showed significant improvement in proptosis, diplopia, and ocular motility post-surgery.

Surgical debulking is an effective treatment for this condition.
