Summary

Patients with idiopathic cardiomyopathy and severe heart failure may benefit from partial left ventriculectomy. Increased myocyte hypertrophy and fibrosis were associated with poorer outcomes in Texas Heart Institute patients, suggesting potential criteria for patient selection.
