A new 99Tcm-human serum albumin (99Tcm-DMP-HSA) kit enables accurate plasma volume (PV) determination. This method allows for simultaneous measurement of red cell volume (RCV) and PV using 99Tcm, improving convenience in nuclear medicine.

Background:

  • Red cell volume (RCV) and plasma volume (PV) are crucial for diagnosing hematological disorders.
  • Current methods use 125I-HSA for PV, which has availability issues.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the utility of 99Tcm-DMP-HSA for plasma volume determination.
  • To assess the feasibility of simultaneously measuring RCV and PV using 99Tcm for both tracers.

Main Methods:

  • A dual-phase study involving 14 healthy volunteers.
  • Phase 1: PV calculated using 99Tcm-DMP-HSA (PV1a), followed by 99Tcm-labeled red cells for PV (PV1b) and RCV (RCV1).
