Purpose:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of a specialized treatment protocol for severe anorexia nervosa.
  • To assess the impact of enteral nutrition, supervision, and psychiatric support on patient outcomes.
  • To gather patient perspectives on the treatment protocol.

Summary:

  • Nineteen patients (aged 17-24) with severe anorexia nervosa underwent a protocol involving nasogastric enteral nutrition, strict supervision, and psychiatric support.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Average body mass index increased from 13.8 to 15.2 during an average 24-day hospital stay.
  • No serious complications were reported, and follow-up data indicated patient acknowledgment of the protocol's necessity.
