    Summary

    Focal sclerosing glomerulonephropathy often resists steroid treatment and frequently leads to kidney failure. This kidney disease also shows a tendency to recur after kidney transplantation.

    Background:

    • Focal sclerosing glomerulonephropathy (FSGS) is a significant cause of nephrotic syndrome and proteinuria.
    • Understanding its clinical course and treatment response is crucial for patient management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To retrospectively analyze the clinical presentation, treatment response, and outcomes of FSGS.
    • To correlate histopathological findings with clinical course and prognosis.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective study of 40 patients with FSGS and nephrotic syndrome or proteinuria.
    • Review of clinical data, treatment with prednisone, and histopathological findings.
    • Analysis of patient outcomes including renal function, end-stage renal disease progression, and transplant recurrence.

    • Histopathology revealed focal segmental and global sclerosis with various glomerular and tubulointerstitial changes.
