Purpose of the Study:

Main Methods:

  • Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized, quasi-randomized, and non-randomized comparative studies.
  • Searched Cochrane Gynaecological Cancer Group trials register and MEDLINE up to July 1997, with handsearching of 16 journals.

Conclusions:

  • Endocervical cell detection serves as a valid surrogate for detecting dyskaryosis and achieving adequate smear rates.
