Birth defects due to topical adapalene and tretinoin

(1) In animals, adapalene and tretinoin are teratogenic. (2) In humans, reports of several disturbing cases have been published after cutaneous administration. (3) Remember to warn women of child-bearing potential. Inadvertent exposure during pregnancy necessitates special monitoring.
