Abstract
Development:
The first part of this article is supposed to present a brief overview on the development of tissues and structures related to the pharynx, as far as they provide a better understanding of the most congenital lesions in this area of the body.
Benign Lesions:
The second part of this article focuses on benign lesions originating in the pharynx or in neighbouring structures. Functional pharynx abnormalities are beyond the scope of this paper.
