Background:

  • Chronic radiation proctopathy often causes bleeding from neovascular lesions.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the safety and efficacy of KTP laser photocoagulation for chronic radiation proctopathy.
  • To assess the impact of treatment on bleeding frequency, hematocrit levels, daily activities, and healthcare resource use.

Main Methods:

  • Twenty-three patients (21 prostate, 2 uterine cancer survivors) underwent KTP laser treatment.
  • Median follow-up was 29 months.
  • Patients received a median of 2 sessions at 4-10 Watts, with a median energy of 816 Joules per session.
