Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine normal ocular protrusion values in a sample of Mexican adults.
  • To provide reference data for the Mexican population.

  • Hertel's exophthalmometer was used to measure ocular protrusion.
  • 301 healthy adult subjects (185 female, 116 male) were randomly selected.
  • Exclusion criteria included ocular trauma, surgery, endocrine disease, or existing ocular pathology.

  • Mean ocular protrusion was 15.18 ± 2.16 mm for males and 14.82 ± 1.98 mm for females.

Conclusions:

  • Observed differences may be attributed to variations in skull and orbital structure, potentially linked to anthropological or racial factors.
