    Antigen selection of antibody-forming cells influences IgG antibody characteristics. This study found memory potential in IgG precursor cells is not limited to high-affinity cells, even with varying antigen concentrations.

    Background:

    • The increase in antigen-binding ability of IgG antibodies post-immunization is linked to antigen selection of high-affinity precursor cells.
    • Understanding this selection process is crucial for vaccine development and immune response modulation.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the regulatory role of antigen in selecting and expressing IgG precursor subpopulations during secondary immune responses.
    • To determine if immunologic memory and antigen sensitivity increase over time.
    • To analyze the avidity of IgG antibodies secreted by antibody-forming cells (PFCs) and their subpopulations.

    • In vitro secondary anti-bovine serum albumin (BSA) response in rabbit lymph node cells.

    • Further research is needed to fully elucidate the mechanisms governing immune memory and antibody affinity maturation.
