Area of Science:

  • Pediatric Surgery
  • Urology
  • Developmental Biology

Background:

  • Undescended testes are common, but perineal ectopic testis is exceptionally rare.
  • This condition presents a unique surgical challenge due to atypical testicular location.

Observation:

  • Two pediatric patients presented with a palpable perineal ectopic testis.
  • Clinical examination confirmed the testes were located within the perineal region.

Findings:

  • Surgical exploration revealed the gubernaculum testes were abnormally anchored to the perineum in both cases.
  • Orchiopexy to the corresponding hemiscrotum was successfully performed for both perineal ectopic testes.

Implications:

  • Understanding the abnormal gubernacular fixation is crucial for surgical planning in perineal ectopic testis.
