Post-traumatic lipomas are rare tumors. This case report details the first known instance of a post-traumatic subpectoral lipoma, offering insights into its characteristics and management.

Area of Science:

  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Pathology
  • Radiology

Background:

  • Post-traumatic lipomas are benign adipose tumors that can arise following injury.
  • While documented in various anatomical locations, their occurrence in the subpectoral region is exceptionally rare.

Observation:

  • A 35-year-old female presented with a palpable mass in the subpectoral area.
  • Clinical examination revealed a soft, mobile mass consistent with a lipoma.

Findings:

  • Radiological imaging (ultrasound and MRI) confirmed a well-circumscribed fatty lesion within the pectoralis muscle.
  • Histopathological examination of the excised tumor confirmed it as a lipoma, with no evidence of malignancy.

Implications:

  • This case expands the known anatomical distribution of post-traumatic lipomas.

Related Experiment Videos

  • Highlights the importance of considering post-traumatic etiology in lipomas presenting in unusual locations.
  • Provides valuable clinicopathological and radiological data for future reference in similar cases.
