Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To describe the morphologic modifications of the thymus gland in fetuses and neonates with chorioamnionitis.
  • To investigate the impact of chorioamnionitis, with or without sepsis, on thymic pathology.

Main Methods:

  • Histologic examination of thymuses from fetuses and neonates with confirmed chorioamnionitis.
  • Analysis of thymic organ volume, corticomedullary ratio, thymocyte counts, and interstitial tissue changes.
