Summary

Researchers created a narrow optical feature using spectral hole burning in Eu(3+):Y(2)SiO5 crystals. This breakthrough enables complex optical pulse sequences, similar to those in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).

To demonstrate the applicability of optical pulse sequences analogous to NMR techniques.

Utilized a novel spectral hole burning process.
Employed Europium-doped Yttrium Orthosilicate (Eu(3+):Y(2)SiO5) crystals.
Applied complex optical pulse sequences to the prepared narrow feature.

Main Results:

Successfully prepared an isolated and spectrally narrow absorptive feature.
