Summary
A small number of patients experienced visual disturbances like glare and halos after AcrySof intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. IOL exchange successfully resolved these dysphotopsias in most cases.

Observation:
- A retrospective review identified 8 patients with visual complaints after AcrySof IOL implantation.
- Symptoms included glare, halos, and peripheral light arcs, particularly noticeable at night.
- No issues with IOL centering or posterior capsule opacification were found.
Findings:
- Six patients had the MA30BA (5.5 mm optic) and two had the MA60BM (6.0 mm optic) AcrySof models.
- Exchanging the AcrySof IOLs for silicone or poly(methyl methacrylate) IOLs alleviated symptoms in most patients.
- Complete resolution of dysphotopsias occurred in 5 out of 8 patients.
Implications:
- The high refractive index and truncated optic design of AcrySof IOLs may contribute to visual symptoms.
- Highly observant patients and those with large pupils may be more susceptible.
- Intraocular lens exchange is a viable option for managing persistent visual complaints.
