Background:

Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is a condition affecting calcium regulation.
Cardiac involvement in PHPT, particularly left ventricular (LV) function, requires further investigation.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the impact of PHPT and parathyroidectomy (PTX) on LV wall thickness, systolic, and diastolic function.
To compare cardiac parameters in PHPT patients with healthy controls.

Main Methods:

Doppler and M-mode echocardiography were used to assess 15 untreated PHPT patients before and after PTX.
A control group of 15 age- and sex-matched healthy individuals underwent echocardiography.
