Background:

  • Rippled-pattern tricogenic tumor is an exceptionally rare neoplasm.
  • Limited detailed immunohistochemical analyses exist for this tumor.
  • This study presents an additional case with comprehensive immunohistochemical evaluation.

Observation:

  • A nodule from the occipital area of a 62-year-old Japanese woman was examined.
  • Histopathology revealed lobular nests of basaloid cells within a collagenous stroma.
  • A distinctive rippled pattern was formed by elongated basaloid cells in parallel rows.

Findings:

  • Immunohistochemistry demonstrated consistent expression of CK1/5/10/14, CK5/8, CK14, and CK7 in basaloid cells.
  • Focal expression of CK17 and CK19 was observed.
  • These keratin profiles suggest a similarity to the cells found in small nodular type trichoblastoma.
