Harvesting split skin grafts of appropriate thickness using the hand-held knife

Split skin grafting is an often used method of covering small skin defects and ulcers. We describe a simple technique to help determine the appropriate setting for the hand-held knife. This provides skin of adequate thickness when harvesting graft from the thigh and permits good regeneration of the donor site.
