Surveys were distributed to members of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists during 1999.

Of 6200 members to whom surveys mailed, 1504 (24.3%) responded.

Of these respondents, 114 (7.6%) perform office laparoscopy and 187 (12.4%) microlaparoscopy.

Clinicians who perform office laparoscopy are more likely to perform microlaparoscopy than macrolaparoscopy. The 2-mm microlaparoscope is preferred by most physicians.
