Summary

A rare arteriovenous hemangioma was found in a patient's chest wall. Complete surgical excision is the recommended treatment for this rare chest wall tumor.

Background:

  • Arteriovenous hemangiomas are uncommon vascular tumors.
  • Chest wall tumors are diverse, but vascular origins are rare.

Observation:

  • A 46-year-old male presented with a right hemithorax chest wall mass.
  • Diagnostic imaging revealed a tumor of the intercostal muscle.

Findings:

  • Surgical exploration and histopathology confirmed the mass as an arteriovenous hemangioma.
  • This represents an extremely rare presentation of this tumor type in the chest wall.

Implications:

  • Arteriovenous hemangioma should be included in the differential diagnosis for chest wall tumors.
  • Complete surgical excision is the primary and most effective treatment modality.
