Summary

A growing frontal bone lesion in a 58-year-old man was found to be an intradiploic organized hematoma. This rare condition caused proptosis, affecting vision and eye movement.

Background:

  • Frontal bone lesions can present with varied etiologies.

Observation:

  • A 58-year-old male presented with a 2-year history of a left frontal bone lesion.
  • The lesion caused proptosis, impacting visual acuity and ocular motility.
  • Imaging revealed a large lesion within the frontal diploic bone, extending to the orbital roof and paranasal sinuses.

Findings:

  • Surgical resection of the lesion was performed.
  • Histopathological examination revealed an intradiploic organized hematoma as the cause of the swelling.

Implications:

  • Intradiploic organized hematoma is a rare cause of frontal bone swelling.
  • Accurate diagnosis requires a combination of clinical, radiological, and pathological assessment.
  • Radical resection is a viable treatment option for symptomatic lesions.
