Background:

  • Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is an immunogenic antigen found in colon carcinoma.

Purpose of the Study:

    • CEA and sLex expression were significantly correlated in colon cancer cells (r2: 0.88) but not in melanoma.

    • The study confirms the presence of CEA in colon carcinoma.
    • CEA is not expressed in human cutaneous melanoma cell lines.
    • The findings suggest distinct expression patterns of CEA in colon carcinoma versus melanoma.
