Equilibrium and nonequilibrium states in thermostated gledzer-ohkitani-yamada shell models
1Department of Applied Science for Electronics and Materials, Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences, Kyushu University, Kasuga, Fukuoka 816-8580, Japan.
Abstract:
We study Gledzer-Ohkitani-Yamada shell models with heat reservoirs. Time-reversible Nose-Hoover dynamics are used for the heat reservoirs. Both equilibrium and nonequilibrium cascade states are obtained by changing the heat reservoirs.

Temperature and Thermal Equilibrium
The concept of temperature has evolved from the common concepts of hot and cold. The scientific definition of temperature explains more than just our sense of hot and cold. Temperature is operationally defined as the quantity measured with a thermometer. Furthermore, temperature is...

Stability of Equilibrium Configuration
A stable equilibrium occurs when a system tends to return to its original position when given a small displacement, and the potential energy is at its minimum. An example of a stable equilibrium is when a cantilever beam is fixed at one end and a weight is attached to the other end. If the weight...
