Summary

This study reveals diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (PCBCL) in Japanese patients, with a poorer prognosis than in European cases. Bcl-2 protein expression was common in PCBCL, regardless of lesion location.

Bcl-2 Gene and Prognosis of B-cell Lymphoma.

Background:

  • Primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (PCBCL) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder.
  • Limited data exists on Japanese patients with PCBCL.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate clinicopathological, immunological, and molecular features of PCBCL in Japanese patients.
  • To analyze Bcl-2 gene rearrangement and protein expression in Japanese PCBCL cases.

  • Clinicopathological analysis of 28 Japanese PCBCL patients.
  • Immunohistochemical analysis for Bcl-2 expression.
  • Polymerase chain reaction for Bcl-2 gene rearrangement.

  • Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was the most frequent subtype (25/28 cases).
