[Effect of dorzolamide on accommodation and pupillary reaction?]

Purpose:
To test the effect of dorzolamide on accommodation or pupillary function.
Materials And Methods:
This double-blind study examined 35 young subjects with normal ophthalmological findings. Before and after the application of two drops dorzolamide in one eye and placebo in the other eye the subjects were examined by pupillography, infrared video-retinoscopy, and subjective near-point determination.
Results:
None of the parameters concerning accommodation or pupillary function differed significantly before and after application of the eye drops.
Conclusion:
Dorzolamide has no short-term effect on accommodation or pupillary function.
