Purpose of the Study:

To investigate student nurses' comprehension of caring science theory and Eriksson's caring process model.
To identify developmental trends in student nurses' understanding throughout their training.
To explore the relationship between theoretical knowledge and practical application in nursing.

Main Methods:

Qualitative, grounded theory approach.
Cross-sectional study design.
Individual interviews with 60 student nurses (27 at the beginning, 33 at the end of training).

Main Results:

Students demonstrated a developmental trend from superficial to deeper understanding of caring science theory.
Similarities and differences in understanding were identified.
A significant number of students at the end of training struggled to link theory with practical nursing reality.

Conclusions:

Nursing education should focus on enhancing the connection between caring science theory and clinical practice.
Curriculum should emphasize theoretical tools that bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world nursing.
Further research is needed to optimize pedagogical strategies for integrating theory and practice in nursing education.
