Background:

Full-thickness macular holes (FTMH) present a significant challenge in retinal surgery.
Combined procedures aim to improve surgical efficiency and patient outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the efficacy of combined phaco-vitrectomy surgery for FTMH.
To assess visual acuity outcomes and hole closure rates.

Main Methods:

Thirteen eyes with FTMH underwent combined phacoemulsification and vitrectomy.
20% C2F6 gas was instilled for internal tamponade.
Retinal breaks were managed with intraoperative laser if necessary.

Main Results:

The mean duration of macular holes was 6.5 months.

Eleven of thirteen holes (84.6%) achieved closure.

All but one patient experienced improved visual acuity post-surgery.

Conclusions:

Combined phaco-vitrectomy offers excellent visibility and tamponade for FTMH repair.

The procedure demonstrates favorable outcomes for FTMH management.
