Abstract:
With the start-up of the new outpatient prospective payment system a little more than a month away, hospitals are busy trying to determine how the PPS will affect their bottom lines. Joanne Tucker (left), a vice president at a California hospital, is among those who expect a revenue loss. But others say the changeover looks like a positive development. The biggest burden could be preparing for the system's implementation.
