    Summary

A rare primary aortic sarcoma obstructed blood flow in a 70-year-old man. This non-fibrosarcomatous malignant neoplasm is the third reported case, suggesting a potential endotheliomatous origin.

    Area of Science:

    • Cardiovascular Pathology
    • Surgical Oncology

    Background:

    • Primary aortic sarcomas are rare malignant neoplasms originating from the aorta.
    • Fibrosarcoma is the most common histological subtype of primary aortic sarcoma.

    Observation:

    • A 70-year-old male patient presented with aortic bifurcation obstruction.
    • The obstruction was caused by a primary aortic sarcoma.
    • Histological examination revealed the tumor was not fibrosarcomatous.

    Findings:

    • This case represents the third reported instance of this specific type of primary aortic malignant neoplasm.
    • The tumor's non-fibrosarcomatous nature is noteworthy.
    • An endotheliomatous origin is hypothesized for this rare tumor.

    Implications:

    • Highlights the diagnostic challenge of rare aortic tumors.
    • Contributes to the limited literature on non-fibrosarcomatous primary aortic sarcomas.
    • Suggests further research into the origins and potential treatments for these rare malignant neoplasms.
