Temporal and spatial dependency of the ventriloquism effect.

Summary

The ventriloquism effect, where vision influences sound localization, depends on timing and spatial differences. Visual stimuli preceding auditory ones and small spatial disparities most strongly create this auditory-visual illusion.

Background:

The ventriloquism effect demonstrates how visual stimuli can alter auditory spatial perception.
Understanding the factors influencing this effect is crucial for comprehending real-world spatial awareness.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the temporal and spatial dependencies of the ventriloquism effect.
To determine how timing and spatial separation influence the strength of this auditory-visual illusion.
