Percutaneous injuries in a high-volume podiatric surgical residency program

Podiatric surgical residents frequently experience percutaneous injuries, often self-inflicted during wound closure with nonhollow needles. While most injuries are reported, screening protocols for blood-borne pathogens need improvement.
