Background:

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global health challenge, particularly in India.
TB infection is associated with social stigma and can lead to psychological distress.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the psychological impact and psychosocial functioning of patients diagnosed with tuberculosis in India.

Main Methods:

A study was conducted involving 50 patients diagnosed with tuberculosis.
Assessment of neuroticism levels and psychosocial functioning across various life domains.

Main Results:

Patients with tuberculosis exhibited a higher degree of neuroticism.
Marked to severe psychosocial dysfunctioning was observed in personal, familial, vocational, social, and cognitive areas.

Conclusions:
