Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To review three recently developed male contraceptive methods.
  • To assess the feasibility, efficacy, and acceptability of these novel approaches.

Main Methods:

  • Testicular suspension via stitch and ball techniques in the superficial inguinal pouch.
  • Polyester sling insertion to induce azoospermia.
  • Administration of prolactin for contraceptive effects.

Main Results:

  • Testicular suspension and polyester slings were simple, applicable, and well-accepted.
  • Polyester-induced azoospermia may result from electrostatic fields and disordered thermoregulation.
  • Prolactin administration demonstrated efficiency and safety as a contraceptive method.

Conclusions:

  • Testicular suspension, polyester-induced azoospermia, and prolactin injection are reversible male contraceptive methods.
  • These methods, particularly testicular suspension and polyester suspensors, are practical and acceptable.
  • Further development of these techniques could expand options for male contraception.
