Clinical and radiological features of aberrant insertion of the common bile duct

Five examples of aberrant insertion of the common bile duct into a duodenal diverticulum are reported. One is thought to be the fifth published case diagnosed pre-operatively by simple radiological techniques. The association with biliary and pancreatic disease is emphasised, together with the possibility of surgical relief. The literature is reviewed and the radiological features discussed with a view to increasing the frequency of preoperative diagnosis.
