Summary

Natriuretic peptides (NPs), like brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), are key in regulating fluid balance and blood pressure. Elevated NP levels indicate left-ventricular dysfunction (LVD) and can serve as a valuable, cost-effective screening marker.
