Summary

Psoriasis patients frequently have allergies. A positive allergy test (RAST) was found in 44%, with higher rates in chronic plaque psoriasis, indicating common atopic diseases and contact sensitization.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the prevalence of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in psoriasis patients.
  • To correlate allergic disease history with positive allergy test results.
  • To identify common allergens and types of allergic sensitization in this cohort.

Main Methods:

  • Allergen-specific IgE antibody levels were measured using RAST (Radioallergosorbent Test).
  • Patients with psoriasis (20 men, 120 women) were included.
  • Contact dermatitis was assessed using patch tests.
