Traumatic diaphragmatic hernia (TDH) can occur after thoracic drainage in blunt trauma patients. Computed tomography (CT) is the most effective diagnostic tool for TDH.

  • Following drainage, diaphragmatic hernia occurred with splenic incarceration into the thoracic cavity.

Findings:

  • TDH can develop during the clinical course after continuous thoracic drainage in patients with blunt diaphragmatic trauma.
  • Computed tomography (CT) is identified as the most effective diagnostic tool for TDH.
