Summary

Most patients received adequate adjuvant therapy information, but oncologists rarely asked about patient preferences. Tailoring information and offering choices may improve patient satisfaction and decision-making in oncology consultations.

Effective communication in oncology is crucial for adjuvant therapy discussions.
Understanding patient information needs and preferences is vital for shared decision-making.

To assess the adequacy of patient information provided during adjuvant therapy consultations.
To identify predictors of physician communication, treatment decisions, patient recall, and satisfaction.

Retrospective analysis of 101 audiotaped adjuvant therapy consultations.
Content analysis of communication patterns, treatment decisions, patient anxiety, satisfaction, and information recall.
