Doxorubicin (DOX) binding ability in malignant soft tissue tumors correlates with tumor volume reduction after chemotherapy. This DOX binding assay may predict chemosensitivity before treatment, outperforming histologic response as an indicator.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To clarify the relationship between DOX binding ability (%DB) and treatment outcomes in malignant soft tissue tumors.
  • To evaluate %DB as a predictor of chemosensitivity, histologic response, tumor volume reduction, and prognosis.

Main Methods:

  • DOX binding assay performed on freshly biopsied specimens from nine adult patients with malignant soft tissue tumors.
  • Preoperative chemotherapy administered, including DOX or pirarubicin (THP).
