Oxidative stress is increased in pre-eclampsia (PE) placental tissue, with evidence of decreased copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (Cu-Zn SOD) activity. This study provides direct evidence supporting the role of placental oxidative stress in PE pathophysiology.
