Area of Science:

  • Vascular Medicine
  • Interventional Cardiology
  • Thrombolytic Therapy

Background:

  • Thrombolysis is a recognized medical intervention.
  • Its application extends beyond coronary artery thrombosis.
  • Peripheral vascular diseases are increasingly treated with thrombolysis.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To review the applications of thrombolysis in peripheral vascular disease.
  • To focus on cases causing acute lower limb ischemia.
  • To highlight its significance outside the coronary circulation.

Main Methods:

  • General review of existing literature.
  • Analysis of thrombolysis applications in peripheral vasculature.
  • Focus on arterial and venous diseases.

Main Results:

  • Thrombolysis is a well-established technique.
  • It is frequently employed for peripheral arterial and venous diseases.
  • Acute lower limb ischemia is a primary indication for its use in the periphery.

Conclusions:

  • Thrombolysis is a vital treatment for peripheral vascular disease.
  • Its role in managing acute lower limb ischemia is significant.
  • The technique offers a valuable alternative to traditional interventions in the periphery.
