This study reports a rare case of uterine carcinosarcoma exhibiting melanocytic differentiation in both epithelial and mesenchymal components. The tumor, found in a 65-year-old woman, showed papillary serous and chondroid differentiation, with melanin pigment present.

Background:

  • Uterine carcinosarcomas are aggressive tumors with both epithelial and mesenchymal elements.
  • Melanocytic differentiation in uterine malignancies is exceptionally rare.
  • Previous literature documents only one similar case of uterine carcinosarcoma with melanocytic features.

Observation:

  • A 65-year-old woman presented with a 3.0 cm endometrial tumor.
  • The tumor displayed a predominant epithelial component with papillary serous differentiation and a mesenchymal component with focal chondroid differentiation.
  • Melanin pigment was identified in both tumor components, confirmed by S100 protein and HMB-45 staining, indicating melanocytic differentiation.

Findings:

  • The endometrial carcinosarcoma exhibited distinct melanocytic differentiation.
