Accidental docetaxel extravasation in cancer patients was managed with saline, hypothermia, and topical dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO). This treatment prevented severe tissue damage, with only mild, late-onset dermatitis observed.

An accidental intravenous docetaxel extravasation occurred in a cancer patient.
The affected area was treated with subcutaneous saline, topical dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), hypothermia, corticosteroids, and diclofenac.

Immediate dermatitis resolved within 24 hours.
Late-onset dermatitis with brown discoloration and skin hyperplasia developed.
No surgical intervention was required.

Implications:

Isotonic saline, topical DMSO, and local hypothermia may effectively mitigate docetaxel-induced extravasation injury.
