Summary

Work-related psychological stress and high workload are linked to DNA damage (8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine) in female workers, suggesting a risk for occupational cancer. This DNA damage marker, 8-OH-dG, was notably higher in women experiencing stress.

  • 54 healthy, non-smoking, non-drinking workers (27 male, 27 female) participated.
  • Peripheral blood leukocytes were analyzed for 8-OH-dG levels.
  • Questionnaires assessed working hours, workload, fatigue, sleep, and psychological stress.
