Summary

Infant botulism (IB) is a rare but serious illness caused by toxins from Clostridium botulinum. Gentamicin may worsen IB symptoms in infants, suggesting cefotaxime as a safer alternative.

  • The development of Botulism Immune Globulin (BIG) offers a promising specific treatment for infant botulism.
