Opium alkaloids XV: isolation of stepholidine

A protoberberine alkaloid was isolated from opium and characterized as (-) 2, 10-dihydroxy-3,9-dimethoxytetrahydroprotoberberine by spectroscopic methods and by comparison with (-) stepholidine.
