Vagal nerve stimulation effectively halted refractory generalized convulsive status epilepticus in a young patient. This intervention significantly reduced seizure frequency and severity over 1.5 years post-implantation.

Findings:

  • Vagal nerve stimulation successfully terminated the refractory GCSE episode.
  • Seizure recurrence and severity were markedly reduced in the 1.5 years following VNS implantation.
