A rural example of English penology in the 16th-19th centuries

Some research was undertaken as part of the Millennium celebrations in a small part of North Norfolk into penal policing and the administration of criminal justice from the Reformation to the 19th century. These observations may have some historical relevance to contemporary problems including community control and punishments.
